The 114-year-old historic Bilimora-Vaghai train of South Gujarat started running again on the track from Saturday after a gap of 8 months. An AC coach has also been added to it. The AC coach has been decorated inside and out with Warli paintings. It was closed last December on the grounds of low earnings.
This train connecting Bilimora to Waghai was started in 1892 during Sayaji Gaikwad’s reign. Tribal people including local people used it. The local people started a movement to get it started again. In the very first trip on Saturday, the Railways got a record arrival of Rs 9475 on this route.
